Extra date for Coffee Appreciation and Saturday Barista Course
Posted on September 6, 2010
Coffee is a daily luxury for us that not only tastes fabulous but helps us get through the day. Coffee has also become a topic of conversation and interest, just like wine. It’s a product shrouded in mystery and grown in exotic places and like wine, the place that the coffee is grown leaves its distinctive mark on the taste and aroma of the coffee bean. On November 13th at 10am Fiori Coffee will line up a selection of coffees from far flung places and will be running a coffee appreciation class. Most consumers don’t get a chance to compare an interesting selection of coffees side by side but this is the best way to learn and highlight differences. This guided discussion will be informative and fun and will include a coffee roasting demonstration by Kamran.
The class runs for 2 hours from the Fiori Coffee factory at 42a Hasler Rd Osborne Park and costs $30.00 and includes a bag of coffee to take home. Bookings are essential and can be made by emailing Louise on info@fioricoffee.com
On 23rd October 9.30am, Kamran will be running our Basic Barista Course. You will be shown how to make that perfect shot of espresso, texture your milk and then put it all together to make the perfect cup of coffee. Kamran will also show you around our roasting facilities and explain a little bit about the roasting process.
The class runs for 2.5 hours from the Fiori Coffee factory at 42a Hasler Rd Osborne Park and costs $120 and includes a bag of coffee and a manual to take home. Bookings are essential and can be made by emailing Louise on info@fioricoffee.com
Please call Louise on 0412223614 if you need any more information on either course.

Fiori Coffee wins Gold at the The CSR Golden Bean
Posted on December 10, 2009
Last year we managed to win the competition outright. This year we have won the only gold medal in WA, plus a silver and two bronze.
Out of over 700 entries from 330 coffee roasteries Australia wide our Kenyan Dorman AA topped the list in the ‘Filter’ category for the gold. We received the silver medal for our Ethiopian Natural Harrar in the ‘Retail Filter’, Bronze for our Fiori Blend in the ‘Milk Based’ category and Bronze for our Organic Blend in the ‘Organic’ category.
We are very proud to have trained two young roasters to championship winning level using traditional equipment and artisan methods. It takes massive dedication and skill to roast on fully manual equipment but in turn they are now true craftsmen.
The medals this year were won by Dan Ainslie who has been with us for only one year. Dan has come from a hospitality background and has proven himself a natural roaster. Congratulations to him!
A very big thankyou

To all those who managed to get a place at our Monkey Coffee Tastings we would like to say a very big thankyou. You have helped us raise over $3000 which will be donated to both the Autism Early Intervention Centre and The Dogs’ Refuge Home in Shenton Park. It has been a fun couple of months and we hope everyone who participated enjoyed it as much as we did.
We have our last roast for 2009 of the Monkey Coffee available now. As before $6.00 from each sale will be split between the above to charities. Email your order to fioricoffee@bigpond.com or call Louise on 0412223614 for more information.
Fiori wins the 2008 Golden Bean
Posted on November 24, 2008
We are proud to announce that we have won the Equal Golden Bean Award. This year 120 coffee roasters from around Australia entered with over 500 submissions. We were fortunate enough to get a medal in all of the five categories we entered.
The main award goes to the roaster that has the highest combined point score in the two main categories of “Milk Based” and “Espresso”. This year that was us. Our “Espresso Blend” took a silver medal in the “Milk Based” category and our “Fiori Blend” took a bronze in the “Espresso” category. Incidentally, the South Australian Barista championships were also won this year using our “Fiori Blend”. These blends are our standard quality, off the shelf blends and not something made especially for a competition. We only have one quality.
All our winning submissions were roasted by Justin who made a choice to leave his career as a chef two years ago to come and work with us. He has taken to roasting like a fish to water and made us particularly proud with his energy and passion.
